Rural tourism in Andalucía: what can we find?
Andalusia is a land of ancestral peoples and traditions rooted in time where the traveler who visits it knows that it comes to let itself go.

Practicing tourism in Andalusia is lost because of its history, reflected in a wealth of heritage from different eras: Iberian, Phoenician, Roman, Byzantine or Andalusian. Monuments as important as the Mosque of Cordoba, the Alhambra in Granada or the dozens of fortresses and castles in Jaén attest to this.

But as varied as its culture is also its nature. Tourism in Andalusia can not be understood without talking about its beaches and its mountains, its mountains and its deserts.

In the second autonomous community by surface of Spain, the variety and the contrast are assured. From the extensive plains of the Guadalquivir valley to the highest peaks of the peninsula, in the Sierra Nevada, the landscapes of Andalusia are, first of all, varied. There is the rainiest area of the country, the Sierra de Grazalema, but also one of the driest, the Tabernas desert.

How not to speak, in addition, of its coasts. On either side of the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, you have plenty of beaches to lose yourself in; and that is that five of the eight provinces of Andalusia are bathed by the sea.

Although, fortunately, they are no longer the only option. Tourism in Andalusia travels at a good pace towards increasingly sustainable models, escaping from the typical image that only associated it with the coast. This is already a good reason to visit it; but if you need more, take note.
Reasons to enjoy rural tourism in Andalucía
1. Beach and snow at 50 kilometers

Who wants to choose when you can have it all? You do not have to decide if you want to spend your holidays on the coast or in the mountains; in Andalusia, one thing does not rule out the other. In just 50 kilometers, you can go from the warm beaches of the Costa Tropical to the high Sierra Nevada mountains, where you reach the roof of the peninsula, the Mulhacén.

2. Renowned roads

A route that runs through a province and a path baptized by a king. The Gran Senda de Málaga or the Caminito del Rey are just some of the most remarkable examples of what Andalusia can offer in terms of hiking. Its roads, many and varied, will take you through forests, valleys, cliffs or beaches. Whether you are an experienced hiker looking for new challenges or traveling peacefully with your family, you will surely find yours.

3. The most threatened feline in the world

It is the Iberian lynx, a stealthy feline that inhabits some of the wildest areas of the peninsula. It is very difficult to observe, but you are in luck; because most of its population is in Andalusia. The ecotourism companies will help you look for it in the two enclaves of the region in which it resides: the Doñana National Park and the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park.

4. Good time almost guaranteed

Due to its location in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, Andalusia is one of the warmest places in Europe. Its climate is typical Mediterranean, which means that it has a large number of hours of sunshine per day. We know that it is not essential, but of course it is a great help when it comes to enjoying nature and outdoor activities.

5. Paradigm of rural tourism

The interior of Andalusia is full of small towns full of history nestled in places of unparalleled beauty. White villages with narrow streets, perched on mountains or by the sea, guarding valleys or vineyards ...

Sustainable tourism is in vogue and the people of Andalusia have echoed this, multiplying their options for rural accommodation and activities in nature. Stroll unhurriedly through its streets, discover its traditions and gastronomy and make friends with its people will make you reach the true soul of this land.

6. Land of adventures

Enjoying its beaches and walking through its villages is very good, but there are those who need the adrenaline to be happy. If it is your case, do not worry, here you have options to finish exultant. From quiet outings by bike or horse to extreme adventures such as bungee jumping, paragliding in the Sierra de Segura or rafting in the Guadalquivir.
