Castellón, sustainable tourism's synonym
Castellón stands as the second most mountainous province of Spain. With an excellent coastline with more than 120 km of coastline, it is also the largest protected area in the Valencian Community. The abundant nature that presents is uncountable and the way to know it too: hiking activities, water canyoning, via ferrata, climbing, etc. The possibilities are many.

For lovers of nature, this province is an enclave to take into account. Eight natural parks and 20 natural landscapes are home to multiple plant species and fauna of great environmental importance for Spain. Depending on the place you visit, you can do many activities in the nature of Castellón.

One of the most famous natural parks of the province is the Tinença de Benifassà Natural Park. Its great scenic beauty, its environmental value and its characteristic abrupt relief, make this Natural Park one of the best places to practice active and adventure tourism. It is the perfect place to go mountain biking and practice trail running, a recent sport that is increasingly fashionable.

You can also try to introduce yourself to the world of aquatic speleology in the underground caves of the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park, where the San José de la Vall d'Uixó river is located, the longest navigable underground river in Europe. This Natural Park is the second with the largest extension of the Valencian Community, and there you will find many routes to explore on foot.

The proximity of the population centers and its good communication with these natural spaces, makes hiking the ideal activity at any time of the year. And Castellón has many trails that allow tourists to connect with nature by integrating into it.

To practice hiking in all its splendor, the Natural Park of the Sierra de Irta and the Natural Park of Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca, where the most important wetland of the community, offer trails full of nature and beautiful landscapes of the coast Virgin.

There are many activities that you can do throughout this province in addition to those already mentioned; such as climbing, paragliding, canyoning, horse riding, via ferrata, kayak, among others. All of them designed so that the adventurer can enjoy his favorite activity with the magnificent setting of Castellón as a stage.

Do you already have an activity in mind? Or do you need more inspiration?
6 reasons to enjoy ecotourism in Castellón
1. Sea and mountain: All in 1

Whatever the time of year, you will always have options to know the nature of Castellón. The ease of finding water activities in summer, such as surfing or kayaking, and mountain, such as trekking via ferratas or trailrunning, you can not find in many corners of Spain.

Having a stone's throw the contrasts of both the mountain and the beach is the great fortune of the people of Castellón.

2. An underground navigable river?

Yes sir. In the Natural Park of the Sierra del Espadán is the San José de la Vall d'Uixó River, and is the longest underground navigable river in Europe.

Can you imagine traversing it in an aquatic speleology activity or on a boat? The images of their caves are simply magical.

3. See the same site with other eyes

Castellón has great landscapes full of life wherever you look. From imposing mountains to shores of turquoise waters worthy of being captured by any painter. Have you ever seen the landscape from the top of a mountain top? Or have you entered the depths of your land?

You will be impressed by all the perspectives this province can offer you.

4. You have to choose

Enjoying nature is always a great option, but it is your choice. According to your tastes, your possibilities and your desire, Castellón offers you a great variety of activities so that you know its abundant natural wealth.

The most important thing is that you live the environment of Castellón and have fun knowing it.

5. The fate of the Mediterranean climate

Another one of the luck of Castellón is its unbeatable climate. The low rainfall and an average temperature of just under 20 ° C make it one of the ideal destinations to enjoy all year.

Long summers and mild winters characterize the Mediterranean climate. All a luck for the visitor who looks for a more benevolent time!

6. Connect with nature

Sometimes life in the city is uphill, and that is because the human being has not been born expressly to live between buildings and cars. Connect with your most primitive being and remember how we lived in another time.

De-stress your mind, detoxify your body and enjoy the tranquility that comes from being in harmony with nature.
