Hiking and birding in Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca: The most important wetland in Castellón

El Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca’s Natural Park is an International Importance wetland (listed by the Ramsar Convention) for hosting on its beaches, marshes and lagoons unique life forms throughout the Mediterranean, many of them endangered. Its white pebbles’ shoreline, between the former lagoon (today turned into marshes, meadows and ponds) and the sea, is the most important of its kind in the Valencian Community. During this pleasant night tour among reeds and ponds, meadows and bogs, we will discover landscapes worthy of distant times and even other continents; know the different vegetation’s adaptations to the diverse saline or freshwater environments, the different soil types and the uses that mankind has historically given to this site, as peat extraction. And we’ll have the opportunity to eat our native deli dinner on the beach, beside the evocative ruins of a former barrack, accompanied by the marine breeze.
