Hiking route around the Millennial Olive-trees Route (Castellón)

It’s in Maestrazgo county where we can find the highest density of olive-tree specimens exceeding two thousand years old, according to the latest datings. It is simply stunning!

In Canet lo Roig will walk along the path that embraces the oldest olive trees in this beautiful town. While the most remarkable features of the local culture and landscape will be described, we will respectfully get into the fields to stroke, hug, feel and hear the heartbeat of those primordial trees.

At the chapel of Santa Isabel we’ll have our particular indigenous lunch and discover the Sénia de Marimon, a huge, old waterwheel. From Canet lo Roig we will go to Traiguera, the ancient Thiar Julia’s Roman village, where a friend will show us the oldest olive tree in town, called "L'Olivera del Xano".

In La Casa dels Capellans restaurant, different olive oil producers will offer us a tasting of the millennial liquid gold. And, optionally, you’ll be able to enjoy a menu in this same restaurant composed by recently recovered traditional recipes.

After lunchtime and thanks to the official tour guide, we will know the ins and outs of one of the most important Spanish sanctuaries: the monumental Royal Sanctuary of la Verge de la Font de la Salut.
