Baumes Corsages Via ferrata (Centelles): cross the longest Nepalese bridge in Europe
The via ferrata of Centelles, or les Baumes Corcades , is considered one of the most famous in Catalonia, and the busiest of them all.
The road leads to the summit of Puigsagordi, but before that you have to go through four sections of vertical walls, collapsed or the famous Nepalese bridge of 68 meters .
For luck of the novice, this way is indicated so much for initiation as for experts in the matter, since in all its sections it counts on two variants: one easy and another difficult. But both loaded with adrenaline.
In addition, it is a very well equipped road that provides at all times to the visitor a safe day, which will take you, approximately, 4 hours round trip. Of course, you must take into consideration all the security measures to carry out this type of activities, do not forget it!
The first section is characterized by its verticality, since it is approximately 70 meters that you have to ascend until you reach the beginning of the second section. A strong dish to start heating.
In the second section we will find the first dichotomy: choose between crossing the Nepalese bridge of 68 meters (difficult part), or continue flanking the rocks.
The Nepalese bridge has a high cable, another at medium height and, fortunately, and according to those who have been able to test it, two cables attached to the feet. And this is fortunate because, if the bridge itself wobbles, imagine if you did not have the two cables, which give greater stability.
Even so, many agree that there is a real fear of crossing it . However, surely many people, and you among them, are willing to take that risk.
At the end of this section we find a nice mailbox to leave our experience. It is possible that, after the fear passed on the Nepalese bridge, more than one has left here his most recondite declaration of love to a loved one.
We continue with flanks during a fairly long route. It is this area that gives name to via ferrata: the open caves are the baumes (in Catalan).
In the third section we find again a bifurcation. We can choose the difficult path, if we want to continue advancing to the edge of the infarction, and then follow the variant of L'Esperó (indicated for experts). Cataloged as K5, this option has difficulty in the collapsed, very accentuated.
If, on the other hand, you prefer a slightly lighter option, then you must follow the Tosquera variant, until you reach one of the symbols of via ferrata: the staircase.
We could say that the fourth section starts after climbing the ladder. We cross, then, the bar, located on the void, that leads to the staircase and, if we do not have too much fear of heights (and at this moment of the via ferrata, almost to finish, it is better not to have it). , we can take a look below. Impress, no: it leaves you breathless.
Finally, we find the last part of the road. Some more collapse with abundant staples for a very desired end for all. We reached the stone landmark and took the photo of satisfaction.
If this kind of chronicle does not finish convincing you, here are some reasons why to tell you about the Baues Corcades.
