If a little more than 60 years ago, we would have told someone who could achieve his dream of flying with a cloth, he would have treated us crazy.

The Madrid community is usually known by the capital of the country, Madrid city, and its most renowned areas: the Gran Vía, the Puerta del Sol, or the Prado Museum.
But Madrid is an extension of Spanish geography that covers much more than that. Yes, there is also a field in Madrid.
Of the many activities that can be done in nature in Madrid, paragliding is one of the great attractions to escape the urban core and the stress of the big city.
Specifically, the Sierra de Guadarrama is one of the destinations chosen to practice this adventure sport. Located in the eastern half of the Central System, between the Sierra de Gredos and the Sierra de Ayllón, it has 300 of its 1,500 square km of extension protected with the figure of National Park.
If the Sierra de Guadarrama is known for something, as for paragliding, it is because of its good climatic conditions, so necessary to practice it. And another of its attractions is that it is only about 60 km from Madrid.
On the other hand, the Sierra de Guadarrama not only leaves the mouth open of those who fly over it. The ascent by the roads until arriving at the stop of the Mountain range, from where it will take off, already comprises of the adventure. And if you do not believe it, try, try!
The flight zones in the Sierra de Guadarrama are Miraflores de la Sierra, El Escorial, Rascafría (Valle del Lozoya) and Arcones (already in the province of Segovia).
In addition to all the above, it has to be said that paragliding is an accessible sport, since it can be practiced by people with some physical disability (accompanied by a monitor, like any other person who is not an expert in the subject).
And, as after flying over the mountain range, you will be hungry (and it is that being amazed spends a lot of energy), you can take advantage of it to eat in some locality of the environment: you will contribute to local development.
What more could you ask for? Sustainable, accessible and fun.
Even so, if you have not managed to convince yourself after reading the above, we will still make one more effort: give you 6 reasons to practice paragliding in Madrid.
