Biscay, the eternal paradise for eco tourists
Of all the people who visit the Basque Country, a large number are concentrated on the coast of Vizcaya. Not only because there are some of the most tourist cities in northern Spain; but also because it has some truly exceptional natural landscapes, giving rise to the practice of many activities in nature in Vizcaya.
The most famous of these cases may be the Urdaibai Reserve. Its natural values make it an exceptional place for hiking, birding, horse riding, cycling, diving and surfing. The latter is practiced mainly on the beaches of Mundaka, a place that has gained international prestige among surfers thanks to a famous "left wave".
On the other hand, canoeing and rowing can be practiced in the Bilbao estuary; while in the Abra there is a great tradition in sailing. In the town of Getxo, for example, amateurs tend to concentrate on this type of activities in nature in Vizcaya.
We are now moving away from the coast; since, gaining ground towards the interior, other natural spaces of incalculable value appear. We have for example, the Natural Parks of Urkiola, Gorbea and Armañón; where the possibilities of ecotourism and adventure activities are unlimited.
