Aragón: a great spot for sustainable tourism and ecotourism
Almost always when we think about the nature of Aragón we tend to direct our mind to the Pyrenees. To the high peaks, the snows and the mountain lakes of Huesca, the northernmost of its provinces.

All that is Aragon, really, but not only that. In this Autonomous Community we also find desert landscapes, forests of different shades, rivers and canyons of labyrinthine forms ... A host of landscapes that invite you to practice all kinds of activities in nature in Aragon.

The amount of protected spaces in this community is immense. In the north, precisely in the Aragonese Pyrenees, is the one with the highest protection category, the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. This is a place of millenary routes, where hiking is much more than an activity, it is a way of life.

The adventure activities that can be done, both in this and in the two Natural Parks that surround it on the left and right, that of Posets-Maladeta and that of the Western Valleys, are very varied. Hiking, trekking, rafting or canyoning in summer; and all kinds of snow sports in winter.
Ecotourism in Aragón: What to expect
A little further south, the Natural Park of the Sierra and the Canyons of Guara is another paradise for activities in nature in Aragon. This enclave is known worldwide for the practice of canyoning; but other activities can also be done, such as trekking or progression through ferrata routes.

In the province of Zaragoza, we find the Moncayo Natural Park. With the highest peak of the Iberian System, the Moncayo, and more than 100 different species of cataloged birds, this space is enjoyed equally by lovers of hiking and bird watching or birding.

The list of natural areas of the Autonomous Community is completed with multiple Protected Landscapes and Natural Monuments. Of the latter, four are in the Maestrazgo region, in Teruel, and offer many opportunities for hiking, speleology or bird watching.

Climbing and via ferrata in the Mallos de Riglos (by the way, also in process to become a Natural Monument), rafting on the Gállego River, one of the fastest in Spain, and birding in the Laguna de Gallocanta Nature Reserve are some more ideas of activities in nature that can be practiced in Aragon.
