Bodegas Viña Ijalba is an organic winery of the D.O. Ca. Rioja, located in Logroño.

It was founded in 1991, by Dionisio Ruiz Ijalba in his desire to produce organic wines. It owns around 92 hectares of vineyards located in recovery areas and it has collaborated in studies of recovery of autochthonous varieties of La Rioja.

We can say that the fundamental principles are: Recovery areas, recovery varieties and ecology, which are present in all the wine experiences that the winery offers to its visitors.

We went for the standard 12€ tour. The other people who were scheduled must not have shown up, so it ended up being a private tour for my boyfriend and I. Eva, our guide, was fantastic. We had a walk around the vineyards, the fermentation and barrel rooms, ending with a generous tasting of three wines, with the option to taste others for a euro or two extra. Overall, a great experience in a family owned winery. Would recommend.

Excellent tour of family run vineyard. Emphasis on ecological wines. We did the “vendimia” tour, in English, with friendly, knowledgeable guide, saw and tasted the various stages, and had a chat with the chief winemaker. Felt like a great insight and different experience. Highly recommended!

On the smaller side and relatively new but well worth a stop. They will give you a tour of the winery but there is not many vineyards on site. They are all in recovery areas around the region. They do organic wines and know a lot about what and why they do it. Worth a stop if you are in the area. Book ahead if you want to reserve a spot. Great price for the quality.

As I dont drive a car I didnt have many options for winery tour. That was kinda lucky to me becasue it left only a couple of choices like bodegas located 1 kilometers from downtown- one of them was Ijalba. I was so lucky. The winery is ecologically concerened and the guide is very kind. Although the season which was winter not good for a winery tour, I really enjoyed myself there. Lastly it produces olive oil which is excellent. I hope more Koreans visit there and find it excellent.
