Activity description
The Mardi Himal Trekking route is a great route for the trekking lovers. It’s a relatively new trek in the Annapurna region, located to the east of the Annapurna Base camp just under the spectacular Machhapuchhre. The Mardi Himal trek provides amazing views of this giant mountain range of Annapuran Himalayas and surroundings. Only few people get to discover this amazing route. And you could be one of them!

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

We will pick up you from the airport and we will take you to your hotel

Day 2: Drive to Pokhara (800m)

We will drive to Pokhara on a tourist bus. This will take us 6 to 7 hours. We’ll stay in the night at Pokhara Hotel.

Day 3: Drive to Phedi and trek to Pothana (1925m, about 4 hours trek)

After having breakfast, we will drive half an hour to Phedi by car and start our our trek on our way to Pothana. The route to Dhampus is a bit steep, and then we will have a pleasant easy walk up to Pothana Overnight in a tea house.

Day 4: Pothana to Forest Camp at Kokar (2,600m) - 4 hours trekking

We walk up to Pitam Deurali, where you will continue along a quiet trail through a dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock and rhododendron trees. Staying overnight in tea house.

Day 5: Forest camp to Low Camp (3,150m) - 5 hours trekking

Our route continues from Forest Camp to Low Camp through the forest. As we go uphill, the vegetation starts to change, getting more rhododendrons and the trees get covered in moss. The view from Low Camp is amazing, with Machhapuchhre views up in the valley. Overnight in tea house

Day 6: Low camp to High Camp (3,700m) - 4 hours trekking

Right above Low Camp, the route stops in a tree line and, towards the west, we will find a great view to Annapurna South and Hiunchuli mountain. Overnight in tea house.

Day 7: Day trip to Mardi Himal Base Camp and back to High camp (4,500m) - 4 hours trekking

We will wake up early to enjoy the sunrise in the mountains. After an early breakfast, we will walk up the ridge towards the Mardi Himal Base Camp. You’ll get to know the dzokpo (yak and cow crossbreds) grazing up here. After three hours we will reach the Base Camp at an elevation of 4500m. Here is where one can look into the Annapurna Sanctuary and the panoramic view turns spectacular, looking at the south face of Annapurna and all of the peaks in the Sanctuary, as well as Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre. Back to the camp. Overnight in tea house.

Day 8: High camp to Siding village (1,750m) - 6 hours trekking

On our trek back, we will take a different route to complete a circuit. Siding is a traditional Nepalese village and a wonderful cultural area. Overnight in tea house.

Day 9: Siding village to Lumre and drive to Pokhara - 3 hours walking and 2 hours driving

From Siding, we will walk out to the road heading Lumle. On the way from Siding, you will cross the villages of Kalimati and Ghalel. Kalimati is mainly a Brahmin village. Transfer to the hotel.

10 Star Experience! No need to search further - go with Exciting Nepal! As someone who has traveled to over 200 countries and partnered with numerous international climbing and tour companies, I hold a very high bar in terms of the level of service, expertise, professionalism and value for money I expect. Subash, the owner of Exciting Nepal, and his team far exceeded my expectations. My friend and I booked the Everest Base Camp with helicopter return. From the moment I made my first inquiry with Subash, I knew I had made the right decision. I extensively researched and reached out to numerous companies both in the US and locally in Nepal. Unlike other companies, Subash was extremely responsive throughout the process, patiently answering my laundry list of questions and providing expert recommendations based on my personal preferences and goals. Every aspect of the program was extremely well organized and executed flawlessly from start to finish. Unlike other companies which are purely “transactional” and impersonal, it’s clear that Subash and his team deeply and genuinely care about each and everyone of their clients - it was as if we were welcomed into a family. What is not apparent from the website is the fact that Exciting Nepal is the primary point of contact and logistics provider for mountain rescues - when you book with them, you should know that you have immediate and direct access to rescue resources unlike other companies who would have to reach out to Exciting Nepal for assistance! As you can imagine, this is something you don’t want to compromise on. Our trekking guide, Basu, was truly exceptional and went above and beyond to make our trek a dream come true. Basu was absolutely meticulous about ensuring every small detail was taken care of from start to finish and was incredibly caring and thoughtful - continually checking in on us and constantly motivating us with his positivity and upbeat attitude. He is an incredibly experienced guide and his passion for guiding and sharing the beauty of the mountains with others is an inspiration. Our days were filled with laughter and smiles and he created a uniquely warm and welcoming environment from the moment we said “good morning” and until we said “good night” every evening. Basu provided invaluable guidance on every aspect of our trek ranging from food recommendations to dressing appropriately for the changing weather conditions. Our porters Singman and Nyman, were also incredible and their strength and fortitude are nothing short of jaw-dropping. Along with Basu, they were constantly looking out for us and we felt so cared for. It was like spending time with a wonderful group of friends. I can’t recommend Exciting Nepal highly enough. I’m someone who has extremely high standards and Subash and his team far exceeded my expectations. Don’t waste your time booking with companies located outside of Nepal and paying triple the price of a paper pushing middleman - go to the source of expertise on the ground. Exciting Nepal truly sets the benchmark others should strive for with deep expertise is based on years of accumulated experience. I was so impressed with their level of customer service and expertise. I will continue to recommend them and make them my go-to guide service for any travel in the region.

We signed up for the Khopra ridge trek with Exciting Nepal and thoroughly enjoyed it! Everything was taken care of as part of the package (including airport transfer, accommodation and transport to Pokhara etc.) - all we had to do is show up and enjoy the magnificent scenery :) Basu (guide) was very helpful and attentive throughout. Thanks also to Niraj (porter) for doing the heavy lifting!

I found best Trip with this company I was looking for a short Helicopter ride to the Everest base camp. I found this company with the hotel where I was staying. The trip was totally looked after including airport pick up and drop. The trip was with the other few people. The Helicopter was landed at the Kalapatthar . A great view point of Mt. Everest. We were flying over at the Everest Base camp. We also had great chance to land at the world famous airport Lukla. Thank you Exciting Nepal.
