The Manaslu trekking route has become a great route for adventurous trekkers. Near to Kathmandu, the complete Manaslu circuit trek around Manaslu is bit hard - with some exposed trails and steep stages. Despite the stunning areas through the gorge of Budi Gandaki, the Manaslu trekking is quite a special route from Lho to Kharche.
Day 1: Land in Kathmandu (1300m)
Arrival at airport. Pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Day off and sightseeing (optional)
Today is our rest day, where you’ll get introduced to your trek crew or you can also enjoy the Kathmandu sightseeing (optional).
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Sotikhola (710)
We will begin the trek by driving from Kathmandu to Soti Khola. It will be a long but great bus ride with amazing views. We will reach Soti Khola via Dhading Besi and Arughat. It will take us around 7-8 hours.
Day 4: Soti Khola to Machha Khola (900m)
Today we will begin the trek by crossing a beautiful river and trekking up through dense Sal forests. We will climb a exciting ridge over the Budhi Gandaki river. After walking along the terraced farmlands, we will reach the Gurung Village of Labu Besi. We will reach the small settlement of Machha Khola. Overnight in tea house.
Day 5: Machha Khola to Jagat (1410m)
We will cross the beautiful Machha Khola on a wooden bridge and trek uphill to a small settlement of Khola Bensi and then Tato Pani, place known to have hot natural springs. Today the route could get demanding. After walking through the forests for some time we will reach Dovan where we will stop for a short break. We will cross a suspension bridge at Lauri and then trek uphill to reach Jagat.
Day 6: Jagat to Deng (1860m)
We will be climbing a rocky ridge and then go towards Sirdibas. We could have lunch at Ekle Bhatti, to then continue our trip crossing a gorge, to then descend through grassy slopes to cross the Budhi Gandaki. As the trail widens, we pass through bamboo forests to reach Deng Khola. We will reach the tiny Deng village where we will be spending the night.
Day 7: Deng to Namrung (2700m)
The trek today will begin with a relaxing walk on a flat until we reach Namrung. We will cross forests on our way to Namrung. We will get amazing views of the Manaslu, rocky hills, the green valley and ridges. This is a small Buddhist village where we can later explore the monasteries and chortens.
Day 8: Namrung to Lho (3180m)
We will trek uphill through the inner Himalayans. We will have amazing views of the mountains like Manaslu, Dwijen, Gorkha and Saula Himal. We will trek along a windy route for a while, before reaching Lho Gaon and Lihi Gaon, two small Buddhist villages influenced by Tibetan culture. We can visit the local monasteries and schools run by Buddhist monks.
Day 9: Lho to Sama Gaun (3530m)
Today, we will walk along the banks of the river with the view of Peak 29. After walking uphill the rocky path, we will reach Sama Gaon, where we will spend the night.
Day 10: Acclimatization day at Sama Gaun, hike to Manasulu Base Camp and return
Today is a rest day. We can either go and explore the Manaslu Base Camp or Birendra Kunda. The Base Camp of Manaslu provides amazing views of Samdo, Nagdi chuli, Simnang Himal and Manaslu glacier. Birendra Kunda is an ice lake very close to the base camp.
Day 11: Sama Gaon to Samdo (3780m)
We will slowly trek all the way to Samdo through a dry and rocky land. The Tibetan border is only 4 km away from Samdo. However, it is not allowed to cross the border. We can visit the Tibetan refugee village in Samdo.
Day 12: Samdo to Dharamsala (4480m)
We will leave Samdo village and take a 4hr trek to Dharmasala. The trail continues along the Budhigandaki river to Dharmasala. Staying overnight at Dharmasala.
Day 13: Dharmasala to Bhimthang (3700m) via Larkya La Pass (5100m)
Leaving Dharmasala early in the morning, we will reach the base of Larkya La Pass. We will climb a demanding route that will take us to the summit of Larkya La Pass. We will enjoy the views of Himlung Mountain, Annapurna II Mountain, kangurung and Cheo Mountain.
Day 14: Bhimthang to Tilje (2300m)
After having breakfast, we will descend to the Surke river. Choosing the climbing route through pine forests, we will reach Dudhkoshi river. Walking further, we will move in and out of Dharapani and will reach the Gho village. Overnight stay in Tilje village.
Day 15: Tilje to Jagat or Syange (1100m)
We will leave Tilje village behind and we will go down to Jagat via Marshyangdi valley. Arriving at Syange, we will cross the Marshyangdi river and walk through Ghermu till reaching the meadow. From Ghermu, we will take the ascending trail to Bahundanda and till reaching Nagdi. Brief walk from Ngadi that will take us to Syange.
Day 16: Drive back to Kathmandu
We will enjoy a brief walk from Syange through Bulbule and Khudi villages, that will take us to Besisahar, which is a district of Lamjung. From Besisahar, we will return to Kathmandu.
