Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the famous treks among adventurers. The Annapurna Mountain is also known as Morshiadi, and it’s the tenth highest mountain in the whole world, standing tall at 8,091m. This amazing mountain is located on the Annapurna massif in the north-central region of this beautiful Himalayan country Nepal.
After the first successful expedition (1950), over the time, this mountain region has been one of the favorite routes for mountaineers, and Annapurna Base Camp Trek has become the perfect choice in Nepal, for serious mountaineers and trekking enthusiasts alike. Annapurna is known for being one of the most dangerous mountains to climb.
Day 1: Landing in Kathmandu
Once you have arrived in Tribhuwan International Airport, our representatives will be there to receive you and transfer you to your hotel. You will get to know everything in detail about this trek. Check into your Kathmandu hotel.
Day 2: Free and arrangement day
Day off. We could do some last-minute shopping for our trekking: trekking gears, canned food and anything you can think of. We could visit the World Heritage Sites such as Kathmandu Durbar Square (this is optional), Pashupati Nath, Swayambu Nath or Boudha Nath among other sites.
Day 3: Drive to Pokhara (6 hrs)
After a great breakfast, we will travel to the beautiful city of Pokhara, via Prithvi Highway. This great bus ride will be approximately 6 hours long. We will get to see beautiful green hills, dwindling rivers and faraway Himalayans on our way. You’ll be amazed by Pokhara. We can travel around this beautiful lake city in the evening. We’ll stay in a hotel near to the lake in Pokhara.
Day 4: Pokhara to Tikhe Dhunga (4-5 hrs)
We will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul which will be few hours in the car. From there, we will walk through an easy route along the banks of beautiful Modi Khola and Modi Khola river Valley until reaching the ancient village of Birethanti - a very old trading route for Nepal and Tibet. Once we’ve reached Tikhe Dhunga, we well rest for the day and have a nice meal at a local inn.
Day 5: Tikhe Dhunga to Ghorepani (5-6 hrs)
Uphill, we will reach the popular tourist destination of Ghorepani. We will cross a stream and then ascend through a stone staircase until reaching Ulleri (2070 m) first. This is a Magar village. We will then walk the enchanting rhododendron and oak forests, crossing small streams until reaching Nangethanti. From there, we will trek for around 3 hours to reach Ghorepani (2,850). We can enoy some sightseeing here, once we have rested a little bit.
Day 6: Ghorepani- Poon Hill to Tadapani: (5-6hrs)
We will wake up early in the morning to reach Poonhill to enjoy the beautiful sunrise on the mountains. We will trek to Poonhill. We can also have great view of Annapurna I (8019m), and Manalsu (8156m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167m) among other mountains. In addition, we can also see the Nepal-Tibet border. We will descend after some time to Ghorepani to have breakfast. From Ghorepani, we will descend once again through the beautiful forests to arrive at the village of Banthanti, where we will finally go towards Tadapani.
Day 7: Tadapani to Chhomrung (4-5 hrs)
We will arrive to Chhomrung at midday, walking through the oak and rhododendron forests. We will stop in this Gurung village to try delicious Gurung food. We can go for a short walk to explore the highest settlement in the region.
Day 8: Chhomrung to Dovan or Himalaya Hotel (4-5 hrs)
We will now descend through stone staircases on a relatively easy route, and then we will cross the cold Chhomrung Khola. Today, along with rhododendron and oak forests, we will also walk through tall bamboo forests. We will ascend till reaching Kuldi. From here, we will descend to reach Dovan.
Day 9: Dovan to Annapurna Base Camp, the Sanctuary (7-8 hrs)
Today we will ascent up from Dovan. We will trek up the bank or bed of glacier and then reach our destination of Annapurna Base Camp (4,237m). The vegetation now disappears on our way uphill to the base camp and the path widens as we reach the Annapurna sanctuary. We again get to see mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South , Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.
Day 10: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (6-7 hrs)
We will start early today to ascend and witness another mesmerizing sunrise. The trek to Bamboo today will be downhill so it’ll be easier. Besides, we will enjoy beautiful landscapes around us. Overnight stay in Bamboo.
Day 11: Bamboo to Chhomrung (5-6 hrs)
We will trek uphill from Bamboo to Kuldi and then go downhill to Chhomrung Khola. We will climb to Chommrung to then descend to Jhinu Danda. We can enjoy here the natural hot springs. From Sinuwa, the trail is downhill to Modi Khola. We will call it a day with a steep climb to Chhomtrung.
Day 12: Chhomrung to Ghandrung (5-6 hrs)
After having a delicious breakfast in Chhomrung, we will say goodbye to the beautiful valley of Modikhola and continue towards Kim Rung Khola. We will walk through rural mountain villages till reaching Kim Rung Khola. From there, we will trek towards the famous gurung village of Ghandruk, which is famous for its beauty.
Day 13: Ghandrung to Pokhara (4 hours)
After our breakfast, we will trek downhill till reaching Birethati. We will stop for a short break in a local tea shop. From there, after walking for half an hour, we will reach Nayapul and catch a bus to Pokhara.
