In this introductory course to mountaineering you will learn in the best possible environment, the National Park of Aiguas Tortas and Lake San Mauricio.


Located in the central part of the Pyrenees, it comprises several Pyrenean districts of the province of León, such as the well-known Valle de Arán. Its almost 15,000 hectares are divided into a mountainous landscape and steep mountains, some of them like the Comaloforno Peak with more than 3,000 meters of altitude.


The spectacular nature of the surroundings


It is a beautiful natural environment with deciduous forests of ash, oak, beech and black pines (in its higher altitude areas). Also, in the darkest areas, forests of firs and blueberries can be found. As for the animals, birds such as the bearded vulture, the griffon vulture or the golden eagle usually fly over these mountains.


About the course


In this training course we will teach you the basic techniques to progress over mountains and is aimed at those who are just starting or want to start practicing this form of leisure guaranteed security.


Among the other contents of the course you will learn about: mountain climbing techniques, orientation, activity scheduling, materials, choice of routes, climbs and detours, group progression through uneven terrain, etc. These will be complemented with a dossier (in pdf) as a manual. The practice will be carried out in a refuge where all the learned techniques will be reviewed and a planning simulation will be practiced.
