Step into the fascinating world of Minas del Horcajo. Its population lived surrounded by the importance of its silver and lead, and nowadays, it’s a wonder to visits its ruins.
In our route, we will visit on foot what’s left of the town, you will see the mine “castilletes”, its dams and its narrowed-path railway.
Day 1: Welcome and accommodation
You will be able to observe the fantastic views that the Carboneras swamp has to offer. just next to our facilities.
Day 2: Mines of Horcajo
Minas del Horcajo is located in Sierra Madrona, in a valley between Torneros and Nacedero. We will focus on travelling through a path the crosses the valley, known as “El Escorial”. Along the way, you can see deers, specially if visited during the bellowing season.
Our adventure could be done in a car, but, without any doubt, it’s a lot more thrilling doing it on foot and going through it like in the past.
You’ll see San Juan well, the school ruins, the dams, the San Juan hermitage, la Casa de la Luz, the ruins of the wells of Malacate and Argentino, and the stone bridge of Minas del Horcajo. This last one is a masterpiece itself, built on curve, and that is kept in a good state.
And we will have lunch in Madronazos.
Day 3: Activities in el Arroyo de Carboneras
This activity can be cancelled and fully refunded up to 24 hours after booking.
