There are countless hidden treasures in Peru. It is a cradle of the Inca Empire and the rich past that this civilization left behind in a form of a cultural and architectural heritage that is still preserved today.

We are talking about one of the countries with the greatest biological diversity worldwide. It’s a country of extremes in which you can climb the highest peaks of the Andes, visit an extreme desert along the coast or venture into the lush Amazon jungle.


The Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu


Located in the south, you will find the main Inca remains, the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. It is one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World, an ancient Andean town that is located at about 2,500 meters above the sea level. Climbing up there is an adventure that you can be part of.

Day 1: Flight to the imperial city of the Incas

After arriving to Cusco, a representative of Valencia Travel Cusco will be waiting for you. We will pick you up with our private transport and take you to your hotel where you will spend the night. You will have a whole day to relax and enjoy the beauty of Cusco.

Optional: City tour in Cusco (not included).


Day 2: Free day (optional extra activities)

OPTION 1. - HALF DAY CITY TOUR

We will pick you up around 2:00 pm. The places you will visit are:
The main Cathedral (Plaza de Armas)
Qoricancha (the Temple of Sun)
Four archeological sites which include: Sacsayhuaman, Q´enqo, Pucapucara and Tambomachay.


OPTION 2. -  FULL DAY TOUR TO VALLE SAGRADO

We will pick you up at 8:15 am. The places you will visit are:
Valle de Urubamba
Valle Sagrado y Pisac
Ollantaytambo
Mercado de Chinchero


Day 3: The beginning of the adventure - “Inca flat”

The starting point will be in Cusco. We will pick you up from the hotel around 4 to 4:30 am (to be confirmed in the training session) and we will travel by bus to Piskacucho (kilometer 82) from where the tour will begin. We will stop at Ollantaytambo from 6:30 am. to 7 am. to regain strength and will reach the kilometer 82 at 8:30 am. Here we will prepare to start the hike.

From here we will be at about 2720 meters (8923 ft) above the sea level. Crossing the Vilcanota River, we will continue along the route and enjoy beautiful views of the Inca fortress known as Huillca Raccay, the vast Inca of Llactapata (called Patallacta), the Urubamba mountain range that divides the jungle and the beautiful peak of Wakay Willca (known as Verónica) at more than 5,800 meters.

The day ends with the arrival to the Ayapata camp at an hour and a half away from the town of Wayllabamba, in the green temperate valley of the same name. In total we will cover about 12 km of route (5 or 6 hours).


Day 4: Prueba Trail

After getting up at 5:30 am, we will start with a steep ascent to the highest pass known as Abra de Warrmihuañusca (passage of the dead woman) at 4200 m (13779 ft). We will climb to its peak and then descend until we reach Pacaymayu where we will rest.

During the tour hummingbirds and other birds, in addition to many varieties of plants and trees characteristic of the place, such as Polypesis, can be seen.

After lunch, we will start the second two-hour climb to Runkuraqay pass where our camp is located (the estimated time of arrival is 5 pm). The route is 16 km long (between 8 and 9 hours).


Day 5: Back to the past!

The day will start at 6 am to have breakfast and then start walking with an easy climb to visit the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarca (City of Clouds) and reach the third highest point of the trail (3680 m). From here, the views of the mountains, canyons and surrounding areas are incredible.

We will continue walking through the Cloud Forest to the Inca place of Intipata and Wiñay Wayna campsite. The total hiking time of the day will be about 5 hours (about 10 km). Within a short distance from the campsite are the archaeological remains of the same name Wiñay Wayna, one of the places of greatest interest.


Day 6: The glorious Machu Picchu!

The last day is reserved for a visit to Machu Picchu. We will leave the last camp around 5:30 am and will walk to Inti Punku (Sun gate) before dawn. From here, the first views of the emblematic Machu Picchu will emerge with the sunrise over it.

We will continue until the last part of the route and take the opportunity to take magnificent photos of the surroundings before arriving to the city. We will arrive at the ancient city of Machu Picchu in about two hours (5 km). There you can explore the mysterious city in depth.

On the return you will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes (you can arrive by bus or on foot) where we will have lunch and take a train back to Cusco. You will have an option of spending an extra night in the city, to enjoy its thermal waters, a real delight after finishing the trail!


Day 7: Bye Bye Cusco!


After the breakfast at the hotel we will pick you up and bring you to the airport.
