Santa Maria del Tiétar
Santa María del Tiétar, previously called Escarabajosa, is a Spanish town and municipality, belonging to the province of Ávila, autonomous community of Castilla y León. We highlight as monuments of interest the Parish Temple and the Zahurdas de la Cancha.
The Parish temple is located in the center of the town and is limited to the North by the town square, and to the South by a small courtyard, an old cemetery. The Zahúrdas de La Cancha complex is made up of two almost perpendicular constructions. You can admire the roof covering that is made with large cushioned rocks, and the walls, which are built with abundant local granite, which are up to one meter thick. It is a traditional architecture with a strong megalithic flavor.
Hiking is a tourist activity as well as a sport that allows you to enjoy nature in a group, while burning calories. Thanks to this activity you will get out of the stress of the big city and enjoy the advantages of exercising outdoors.
