Feel the mountain wind and breathe fresh air in this activity guided by both land and water in the corners of Cofrentes.
A unique geography
Cofrentes is a Valencian municipality that is located in the immediate vicinity of the Júcar and Cabriel rivers. Also belonging to the Ayora Valley, a mountainous area bordering Albacete. As higher peaks we can find Alto del Morrón or Borregueros, both around 800 meters high. We can also visit the Agras Hill, also known as Cofrentes volcano. Formerly, this entire mountain system was under the sea, which led to the formation of limestone rock of the place. Cofrentes has numerous sources, Hervideros being the most important spring.
Gastronomy and culture in the Valencian mountains
Gazpacho and “ollica cofrentina” as typical local dishes. The latter consists of beans, ham, bacon, onion or potatoes, among other additives. We can also try their famous orza sausages, and to finish the menu, you can taste desserts such as pumpkin fritters or the badly made cake. Special mention deserves the Cofrentes peach, unique throughout Spain. And after the meal, a shot of "zurracapote". Without a doubt an ode to our sense of taste. To end our visit, we recommend taking a walk around the municipality and observing its Castle, the parish church, or any of its three hermitages (Sagrada Familia, Virgen de los Desamparados and Virgen de la Soledad).
Extraordinary combination to enjoy Cofrentes
We offer you a complete guided tour, which starts with a bicycle pedal while you travel around Cofrentes, followed by a hiking route to continue appreciating the charms of the place. And to conclude the visit, an exciting route along the Cabriel River aboard one of our canoes. For the more intrepid there is also the possibility of monorafting.
