Hiking, route Cares-Caín 1 (Picos de Europa, León)
Route of Cares is one the best known paths in Picos de Europa, located between the provinces of León and Principado de Asturias, in Spain.
Go through the gorge of río Cares, known as the “divine gorge”, between the town of Caín and Puente Poncebos, in Asturias. Back in the day, it was the only connection between both towns during snowfalls in Winter.
It’s a medium height route of approximately 11 kilometer. It’s considered one the most beautiful ones in Spain, it goes through caves, bridges and sculpted paths in the rock.
The spectacular nature and the moderate slope of route del Cares, makes this experience an ideal one for hiking and it is widely considered the most impressive route suitable for all publics, even if you don’t have any previous mountaineering experience.
The route Caín 1-Senda del Cares is an easy level route and has a duration of 3-4 hours aprox. It’s a guided route with a start from and return to Caín, going through the most spectacular section of 11 kilometers in total.
