Hiking in Borosa River (Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas, Jaén)

Discover one of the most fascinating routes in the Natural Park of Cazorla, Segura y las Villas (Santiago-Pontones), along the shores of crystal clear waters of the River Borosa. This path is within the group of the "Water Routes" and includes a special route which goes over wooden platforms located over the river at the point of the route called Cerrada de Elias.

With a length of 7.5 km and an estimated duration of 3 hours, it presents a low difficulty, accessible to all publics, with frequent shades and the possibility of observing a large number of animal species and some characteristic flora and vegetation of this great natural reserve.

This area is known for its incredible geology, with curious geological formations that have been shaped over time. Vegetation is rich with pine forests and animals, like the carnivorous plant (Pinguicula vallesneriifolia), the Viola cazorlensis or the Valverde's lizard.

The route starts at the Aquaculture Fauna Center of Andalucía, known as the Borosa fish farm. Once this section is over, there is a chance of reaching the hydroelectric power station and visiting the Salto de los Órganos waterfall and Valdeazores lagoon.
