The famous Cares route has 12 kilometers to walk, between Cain (Leon) and Poncebos (Asturias) with a spectacular landscape as a backdrop and a gorge that impresses when you see it for the first time.
You will not need to be an experienced mountaineer to do it, you just need clothes and proper footwear and a tremendous desire to enjoy the mountain and the landscape that surrounds you.
It is an interpretive hiking route, where a guide will describe each of the details you will find, both during the minibus or van, and on the ground in the whole of the hiking route.
It is a route considered of medium difficulty, not because of its technical difficulty but because it passes between high-altitude cliffs and can not be abandoned until one of the two towns is reached.
The departure takes place in Cangas de Onis at 10:30 a.m. from our office located at Avenida de Covadonga, 14, from there we will go to the Ponton, and stopping at Puente Vidosa.
The second stop will be at the Panderrueda viewpoint, following the Chorco de los Lobos, a place where wolves were once hunted.
From Valdeon, where there is a famous via ferrata for the more adventurous people, and we will go to Cain, where the route of cares will be made, with exit by poncebos and from there to the viewpoint of the Well of Prayer, to see the Naranjo of bulnes or Picu Uriellu in Asturian, the most mythical peak of the Picos de Europa, place of worship of the best Spanish climbers and mountaineers for the difficulty of its walls. Once finished we will return to Cangas de Onis.
The guide will illustrate throughout the trail the history, characteristics and anecdotes of each of the key points of the route and the fauna, flora and geology of the place.
