If there is an adventure sport where you can have fun in a refreshing way that is canyoning.
In Spain there are many ravines that allow you to practice this popular sport. Some of the best are located in the natural park Sierra de Cazorla, safe and villas, known for its scenic beauty and biological richness, in addition to its rich cultural heritage.
One of the ravines with the best conditions to practice canyoning is the Aguas del Buitre ravine, located on the upper Segura River, next to the village of La Toba, belonging to the municipality of Santiago-Pontones and very close to the Anchuricas reservoir.
This powerful ravine stands out for the good conditions of its rappels and incredible views of an extensive forest that covers thousands of hectares, with large specimens of animal and plant species. A favorable place for this and other adventure sports.
The ravine is characterized by being very vertical and during its route (about 3 hours approximately) the rappels predominate. A total of 750 meters in length with 350 meters of gradient from the beginning to the end. You will have to launch and descend by a succession of about 20 rappels, between 10 and 65 meters high.
We must not forget that, in spite of the name, Aguas del Buitre is a basically dry ravine, if at all with any upwelling or pond depending on the rains of the time of year. However, there is a permanent water surge in the last section (last five rappels).
Come to the largest protected area in Spain and descend through the waters of this impressive canyon.
