Are you a nature lover? Are you one of those who feel an incontinent emotion when you are in the middle of nature? The Bahía de Cádiz natural park awaits you.
Biodiversity as a sign of identity
Molluscs, beaches, pine forests, sandstones, scrubs ... a multitude of places along the almost 11,000 hectares belonging to this park, a place of passage for a multitude of birds that cross the Strait of Gibraltar from the National Park of Doñana. The ecological value is enormous, being especially important the fauna. We found a great variety of fish and fishing birds, such as cormorants, fishing eagles or flamingos. Within the park we can find two natural places; The island of the Trocadero (colony of the spatulas) and the island of Sancti-Petri.
Natural space full of possibilities
Fishing, shellfish and salt extraction are the main economic engines of the park, since sea water is driven by the tide, and this coupled with strong sunlight favors evaporation and the consequent crystallization of salt in the saltworks . The park also has recreational areas and a large number of activities (cycling, boat rentals or outdoor sports) to make your visit a complete experience.
Hiking through the dunes
Walk through a beautiful dune system in the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, overlooking the salt marshes and the sea. You will have the opportunity to contemplate these wetlands whose landscape varies depending on the tides, where a great variety of birds find refuge for both wintering and breeding. Walk along a beach while watching the views of the mythical islet that hides the Castle of Sancti Petri. Optionally, there is the possibility to visit some artisanal saltworks or take a walk through abandoned saltworks, where it is also possible to observe a multitude of birds.
