The variety of ecosystems and landscapes present in Andalucía Oriental allow to host some of the most interesting bird species in Europe. Because of its strategic location, Andalucía is an habitat for a high number of resident species and it’s also a transit point for several migratory birds.
In Campiña de Jaén y Córdoba we still found areas that help as a refuge for steppeland birds like great bustards, little bustards, carracas and grey eaglets. As well, they constitute important areas for food and dispersion for birds of prey.
We will continue with a visit to Parque Natural Sierra de Andújar, with landscapes of mountains and meadows, where the Iberian lynx and the Imperial Iberian eagle share habitat. In addition, we will be able to enjoy the third biggest Andalusian colony of black vultures.
Continuing through Jaén, we will move towards Parque Natural Despeñaperros that counts with an extraordinary natural, historic and geological heritage, and we find species like the griffon vulture, the Bonelli eagle or the peregrine falcon.
At Parque Natural de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas we find a mix of deep valleys and Corsican pine forests, overflown by the bearded vulture or the golden eagle.
Paraje Natural Desierto de Tabernas gives us an spectacular landscape and it’s an habitat for different wildlife species, in which the Alpine swifts or the trumpeter finch stand out. To finish the tour around, Parque Natural Cabo de Gata-Níjar, hosts several exclusive species from one of the driest ecosystems in Europe. Here we can enjoy the black wheatear, the ortega or the marbled tear covary.
